Fashion, a never ending cycle of shapes, styles, fits, and colors evolving over time. It characterizes cultures, social status, religion and beliefs. It allows us to express ourselves without having to utter one word. But most of all, it is one of the topmost things that I have loved throughout my entire life. That is why I created The Paperdawl Dossier. TPD is a muse, to enrich ones style through beauty, fashion, and art. It is a celebration of all things fashion and hopefully it will serve as an inspiration to all of its followers.
The Paperdawl: T O N I
I graduated from Howard University with a BFA in Fashion Merchandising. There I participated in many fashion shows, on the catwalk and behind the scenes. I was labeled the "perfect example of Howard style" in the Washington Post in 2007, which was truly an honor to say the least.
I could only describe myself as a "renaissance" woman, having to juggle between many different talents (gratefully). A fine artist, makeup artist, and hair stylist can be added to the long list of freelance professions I have pursued throughout the years.
I started drawing at the budding age of 6, while watching my big sisters doodle on notepads, and programs to keep busy during church. My parents realized I had a gift and soon began to nuture my talents, even to this very day. I owe so much to their encouragement, motivation, and wisdom and only hope that one day I can repay them x's infinity.
My interest in art lead to my passion with fashion. Before leaving for middle school, in the mornings, I would study the designers and models on the Style channel. Only to emulate my "studies" during recess. I would hold "model walk" workshops and pretend to be Naomi and Giselle while wearing my make believe Alexander McQueen or Chanel. Fashion has always been my calling for years and I am more than excited to share my love with you!
